Many people say that there isn’t much to see in Puebla but I beg to disagree. Even though it doesn’t have the scope and size of the popular Mexico City, it is definitely no dud. It is a hidden treasure. There are amazing tourist destinations, delicious food, and cultural heritage. I went around the city and it certainly took me by surprise. If you want to have the best experience, here are some of the coolest things you can do when you are in this city.
- Explore a volcano
Feeling adventurous? Take the path that is less traveled and explore some of the volcanos. There is a location in Puebla which is only a stone’s throw away from famous Mexican twin volcanoes, Popocatépetl and Iztaccíhuatl. Even though the former one is off limit when it comes to visitors because of the eruption in the year 1994, the latter is great as a sight-seeing option or for climbing. Dare to do more? Step inside the volcano and check it out.
- Marvel at some unusual architecture
Puebla is definitely one of the best architectural destinations that I have visited in Mexico. It also has a wide range of unusually decorated architectures which are certainly worth a visit. Casa de Los Muñecos is a beautifully tiled building. Do not forget to stop at Casa Del Alfeñique. If you are a fan of Baroque, you must visit Capilla del Rosario.
- Visit Museo Amparo
If you take interest in Mexican art, do not miss out on the opportunity to visit Museo Amparo when you are in Puebla. Amongst two colonial building, you will find the finest collection of pieces of Mexican art. The best part about this is that the entry is completely free. Make sure that you head to the terrace once.
